Who we are
Zency Scan is made by Zency (“we”). Questions about this policy: [email protected].
What stays on your device
- Documents and pages you scan or import, their images and the text recognized in them.
- Folders, names and settings you create in the app.
- Text recognition (OCR) runs on your device: Apple Vision on iPhone and Google ML Kit on Android. Your pages are not sent to us for processing.
- App lock PIN (if you turn it on) is stored hashed in the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore.
- The free page counter is also kept in secure storage (on iPhone, the Keychain keeps it across reinstalls so the free page allowance is not reset). It contains a number only.
We do not collect, receive or store any of this data.
Permissions the app asks for
- Camera — to scan documents and QR codes.
- Photos (iPhone) — to pick photos you want to turn into pages, and to save images you export. On Android, photos are picked with the system picker without a Photos permission.
- Face ID / fingerprint — only if you turn on app lock, to unlock the app. Biometric data never leaves the operating system.
- Internet — for in-app purchases and the update check described below. Scanning and OCR work offline.
When the app uses the internet
- Purchases. Buying or restoring Lifetime Pro is handled by the App Store or Google Play. We receive no payment details; Apple and Google process them under their own privacy policies.
- Update check. The app downloads a small public file (
zencyscan.com/app-config.json) to see whether a newer version is available. The request contains no personal data or document content. Like any web request, it is seen by our hosting provider (Cloudflare), which may log your IP address for security. - Google services on Android. The document scanner uses Google ML Kit through Google Play services, which may download the scanner module on first use; text recognition uses an ML Kit model bundled in the app. Processing happens on the device, but Google Play services and ML Kit may send limited usage and diagnostic data to Google under Google's Privacy Policy. On Android the app may also ask Google Play's Age Signals API whether a supervised account is allowed to use the app; the answer is used only on the device.
Sharing, export and backups
- When you share or export a document (PDF, JPG, Word, a backup file), it goes where you send it. That destination's privacy policy applies.
- Your device's own backup (iCloud device backup or Android backup) may include the app's library, under your operating system settings.
- “Export backup” in Settings creates a file you control. We never see it.
What we don't do
- No accounts, sign-in or email collection.
- No analytics, advertising, tracking or data selling.
- No uploading of your scans to us or to any AI service.
Deleting your data
Delete documents in the app (they stay in Recently Deleted for 30 days, then are removed), or uninstall the app to remove its library from the device. Because we hold no copy of your documents, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Children
Zency Scan does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
